Akara has partnered with a Tartu University Hospital, Estonia’s largest healthcare provider, to implement software technology with the hospital’s infection control team.

The partnership will see Akara arm frontline workers with Tasker, a software tool developed to manage cleaning and infection control tasks in real time. The platform was designed to increase the efficiency of resource intensive cleaning tasks, while also eliminating paperwork, quicken hospital turnaround times and reduce administration burden.

The Tasker app allows infection prevention and control teams to maximise the resources at their disposal. The app fully integrates with Akara’s suite of infection prevention technologies, including their autonomous air and surface disinfection robots.

Tartu University Hospital and Akara began the partnership as part of the EIT Health Startups Meet Healthcare Providers accelerator, an EU-funded program linking healthcare providers to high-potential innovative startups.

Graham Armitage, EIT Health Interim MD for Ireland and the UK, said:

“Akara’s futuristic software has capability to reduce patient wait times, improve transparency associated with clinical disinfection, and alleviate pressure on cleaning staff by eliminating paperwork.

Conor McGinn, Co-Founder and CEO of Akara, said:

“Insights gained from Tartu University Hospital stakeholders helped inform key elements of our business model and go-to-market strategy. Tartu is regarded a research and innovation powerhouse in Europe, so we are proud to have signed an MoU to begin a trial of our technology within the hospital.”
