Akara is a robotics and artificial intelligence company based in The Digital Hub, Thomas street, Dublin, Ireland. We are a spin-out from the Robotics and Innovation Lab at Trinity College Dublin, and our mission is to reduce hospital infections and boost service capacity through the innovative use of robotics, infrastructure and AI technologies. We develop robotics and related technology from the ground up, encompassing mechanical and electrical design, fabrication, software development, system integration and support. The company is 5 years old and currently has 10 full time employees

About the Role

We are offering a full-time role based in our offices in Dublin 8.

The successful candidate will work closely with other engineers in the company with the following core responsibilities related to the manufacture of robots and related devices:

  • Assembly and Manufacture of advanced robot platform and other products including mechanical, electronics duties as well as CNC and manual manufacturing

  • Quality assurance measures

  • Documentation of the production process

  • Inventory management

  • Development of repeatable process for batch production of robots

  • Interact with suppliers etc where needed

  • Plan workspaces and necessary production infrastructure

  • Aid in product redesigns especially in relation to manufacturability

  • Project management

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Electronic, Robotics, Mechatronic)

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, both hands on practical work and project management 

  • Experience with mechatronic systems such as robotics, switchgear etc.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks is preferable) 

  • Strong communication skills especially in relation to documentation

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Experience being an active member of a team including taking leadership roles

  • Have Demonstrated track record of being proactive, driven and pleasant to work alongside

  • Be able to work in Dublin office (D8)

Additionally, the following would be desirable:

  • Experience with Lean six-sigma or similar

  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO9001 etc.)

  • Knowledge of standards related to product development  etc. 

  • Product development experience

  • Driving licence
