Founders Associate

Dublin, Ireland

Full-time

About Akara

Akara is a fast-growing international healthtech startup on a mission to build the intelligence layer for the modern hospital - using AI to help hospitals understand what is happening in real time and deliver more care with the resources they already have.

A spin-out from Trinity College Dublin, Akara builds on more than a decade of research in AI and robotics. Our technology is deployed across the US, Ireland, and the UK, and an Akara device was named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2025.

With offices in Los Angeles and Dublin, we are scaling quickly and building an ambitious international team across AI, robotics, software, and healthcare.

About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional Founder’s Associate to work directly with Akara’s founders and act as an extension of us across the day-to-day running and growth of the company.

This is a broad, hands-on role. Your job is to help us stay organized, make sure things don’t fall through the cracks, and take ownership of whatever needs to get done.

Some of the work will be strategic. Some will be operational. And some will simply be whatever the company needs that week.

One week you might be coordinating interviews and setting up a new employee’s desk. The next you could be in California helping organize a hospital demo, following up with customers and coordinating between our commercial and engineering teams. The week after that you might be updating an investor deck, organizing our attendance at a conference or making sure the founders actually follow up on the 15 things they said they would.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys that variety and gets satisfaction from making things happen.

What you will do

Founder support & company operations

  • Keep track of founder priorities, actions and follow-ups.

  • Coordinate meetings, projects and activities across the company.

  • Make sure important things actually get finished.

  • Jump into new problems and special projects as they arise.

Hiring, onboarding & people

  • Post roles and manage job listings across LinkedIn, Indeed and our website.

  • Coordinate candidates, interview questions and interview processes.

  • Help onboard new hires, from contracts and documentation to desks, systems and introductions.

  • Coordinate performance reviews, gather feedback and prepare review materials.

  • Support HR processes and documentation as the company grows.

Customers & US expansion

  • Spend significant time in the US supporting our growing customer base.

  • Visit prospective and existing hospital customers.

  • Organize customer meetings, site visits and product demonstrations.

  • Support new customer deployments and coordinate between customers, engineering and business development.

  • Follow up with customers and make sure actions and information don't get lost between meetings.

  • Build relationships with healthcare organizations, associations and communities.

Fundraising

  • Keep our investor CRM accurate and up to date.

  • Research and reach out to prospective investors.

  • Coordinate investor meetings and follow-ups.

  • Help create and update fundraising decks and materials.

  • Support investor communications and our wider Akara network.

Marketing & events

  • Create polished presentations, pitch decks, customer materials and other company collateral.

  • Draft social media content around deployments, new hires and company updates.

  • Make updates to the Akara website and help keep company content current.

  • Turn rough founder ideas into clear, well-designed materials.

  • Organize our participation in conferences and events, including booths, logistics and meetings.

  • Apply for relevant awards, conferences and other opportunities.

  • Experiment with AI and other tools to make the team faster and improve how we communicate.

And plenty of things that aren't on this list yet.

What we are looking for

You’ll probably thrive in this role if you:

  • Are exceptionally organized and naturally keep track of things other people forget.

  • Have very high initiative - when you see something that needs doing, you don't wait to be told every step.

  • Are happy switching between important strategic work and very practical tasks.

  • Communicate extremely well and are comfortable representing Akara externally.

  • Can work with engineers, salespeople, hospital staff, executives, investors and founders.

  • Are comfortable operating without perfect processes or instructions.

  • Are willing to travel frequently between Ireland and the US and spend extended periods there when needed.

  • Want an unusually broad view of what it takes to build and scale a technology company.

  • Are creative and have a strong eye for how things should look and be communicated.

  • Are very comfortable with technology and quick to learn new tools.

Helpful, but not essential

Previous startup experience would be particularly valuable. We’d love to hear from people who have previously founded a company themselves, particularly in healthtech, medtech or healthcare, and want to spend the next stage of their career helping build another.

How we work

At Akara, we value:

Ownership: We take responsibility for outcomes and follow through on commitments.

Customer understanding: We take time to understand hospital workflows and the people using our technology.

Ambition: We are building technology that can meaningfully improve healthcare delivery at scale.

You'll work directly alongside Akara's founders and get exposure to almost every part of building the company: hiring, fundraising, customers, technology, operations, marketing and international expansion.

We're not looking for someone who only wants to advise or make recommendations. We're looking for someone who closes loops.

If you eventually want to found another company, run a business or become a senior operator at a high-growth startup, this role will give you a front-row seat to building one.

Why join Akara

Work on technology with a direct and measurable impact on healthcare.

  • Join a highly experienced team working across AI, robotics, software, and hospital operations.

  • Take meaningful ownership from an early stage.

  • Work directly with healthcare providers and leading hospital systems.

  • Help shape products, processes, and company strategy as Akara grows.

  • Report directly to the C-suite.

  • Develop your career within a rapidly scaling international company.

Compensation and benefits

TBD, depending on applicant.
